"Spread Change" Hoodie
Art prodigy who used his art as his voice to cement his legacy in history. He was the youngest artist (21) to ever take part in documenta in Kassel (exhibition of contemporary art in Germany).
His style was bold, edgy, and undeniably black as he used graffiti to write mysterious epigrams in the lower East Side of Manhattan.
Born of Jamaican and Puerto Rican decent, Basquiat used commentary in his paintings as a tool for introspection and for identifying experiences in the black community of his time, as well as attacks on structures of power and systems of racism.
Baquiat, we thank you for your contributions of modern art, while inspiring a new generation of bold artists. Thank you for being a Changer.
