"Spread Love Black History" T-Shirt
The first black woman elected to the U.S. Congress, representing New York’s 12th District for seven terms from 1969 to 1983. She championed the rights of the least of us, fighting for improved education; health and social services, including unemployment benefits for domestic workers.
She once quoted: "Tremendous amounts of talent are lost to our society just because that talent wears a skirt".
In 1972, Chisholm became the first black candidate for a major party’s nomination for president of the United States, and the first woman to run for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination.
Thank you for displaying incredible braveness in the face of discrimination; showing black women belong in positions of power and leadership.
"If they don’t give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair".
